For the Karoo. From the Karoo.

Our aim is to bring together smaller Karoo towns and local tourism suppliers to attract more visitors, both local and international, while keeping what makes each place unique. The focus is on growing tourism more evenly across the Karoo, rather than concentrating it in only a few well-known spots.

TKLE is not an outside project looking in, and not an attempt to reshape the region from a distance. The starting point is simple: work with what is already here, and build from within.

The approach is practical. It focuses on real places, real people, and what actually works. That means testing ideas, learning from experience, and adjusting along the way rather than applying models that don’t fit the reality on the ground.

TKLE is being developed as a network rather than like a traditional company or government department. That means connecting people and efforts where there is shared intent, rather than trying to control them. This network will be supported by pillars that help strengthen it.
